I love dancing lightly around the more serious

issues

its all otherwise so concentrated now

thanks to the national evening news

CNN blares 24 hours a day

its always there to see

even when I am out

whether its bombings in Lebanon or the cult

holed up in Waco

their broadcasting is there and sternly

devout

leaving no bridge uncrossed

no scandal unreported

all light from every possible angle

must be shed upon the damaged

even Eastern Europe's problems have become

coldly imported

to my box from their initial problems of

social cleansing and destruction

why if I wanted I could watch a war almost

every evening without interruption

to me, all necessary evils such as this

should be allowed to the viewer

as an initial reminder

we would each be far better off

if with our immediate neighbors

we were just a little more kinder...........
