as they stood him up to take him away

I heard his last reply of what I myself

could not exactly say

'I Love You'

but for how very long?

came the immediate response

to my overly saddened eyes

for a day?

a month?

a year?

along side a life time of wounded whys?

I could not accurately say

so instead I said nothing

as they dragged that precious man

I loved away

in my heart I knew I was the absolute

worst kind of fool

a fool in love

but a fool in love forever

I knew I would not stay..............
