like gay happy faces
upon the moon's very own light
the shadows themselves danced about
as if so utterly delighted
by the prospect of the approaching dawn
a fiery sprucing that fills the sky's width
and height
bared its so beautiful self to us
our rapture sang a tune to fit the moment's mood
as with irrepressible ease we reflectively grieved
the last before unmentioned ending
to a once so very gratifying liaison
only the vaguely ignorant would dare to dispute
this keenly relevant point of poetic focus
such ideas were set post haste in my mind long,
long ago
so don't expect me to recall the actual source
of the enlightening now
but note that the past and all its cohorts rarely
ever slowed me down
nor gave me any real reason to flinch
just moments of sporadic concern
they built in me steadily to appreciate in
myself a better understanding today
and it took a lot of consecutive years to
achieve this very level of uniquely frank
self expression
living well within such knowledge now
I heartily embrace even better and still
better ideas
in which I all too gladly offer to the page
remembering all the while that even one's own
despair
eventually exhausts itself.............
