I'm sure you see my emotionless abandonment on your part

as a point in the favor of the most abject betrayal

but please note that I can no longer weigh the precarious

odds on such an imbalanced scale

but should we ever attempt to pick up where we each

left off I believe we'll lose the initial scent of the

trail

for we will invariably drift off again in separate

directions

only this time the friendship will crumble, suffer

and fail

forgive me my friend (once)

for painting such an ugly, dark and humorless tale

but we must come to grips with our gain and loss

if we wish to prosper apart and hope to separately

prevail...........
