THE CHILD'S ROOM

Folder:
JOURNAL#7

tucked away in the child's room

are some paints, a brush and a witch's broom

the corner shelf is filled with over stuffed animals and

over dressed dolls

the tiny toy box is positively over pouring with its

spring board of balls

the train set has been side tracked for a new age

electronic game

a new animated play mate lays discarded upon the

unmade bed

like she's waiting to be named

knotted tennis shoes litter the floor on either side of

the old antique bureau

left behind by their mistress when she was in a hurry

that afternoon to go

and I get the joy of redressing Barbie for her late evening

date with Ken

along side the bliss of making order of scattered

markers, paper and pen

all will be a mess only hours after it has been carefully

straightened and cleaned

back to the before hand look of what a little girl's

room would be as she once only dared to dream...........

Author's Notes/Comments:

was baby sitting for a friend's little girl and this poem came to me as I was straightening up the mess a bit as the child napped on the living room sofa.
