CHILDHOOD ENCHANTMENT

Folder:
JOURNAL #27

the old cheap plastic sleds

made a graceful though swift skidding

feet

in stirrups of snow

little hands

angels of the cold

clutching at

over night braids

of dazzling icicle ornaments

appearing off Mommy's back porch

seasonal treasures

to the CHRISTMAS scenes

of children's winter play

with all innocence and wonder still

intact

all that hot cocoa drank and pissed out

in breathless delight

leaving yellowed ice angels in the snow bank

to tell the tale of too much fun on a cold, cold

day

had by one little apple cheeked girl of seven

that was me in the winter of 1975.............
