in subtlety there is much refuge

an agreement over many 'hot point' subjects

garners mass appeal

yet further enrichment of this very ideal

is arrived upon

by one's personal payment of a steep price

in part

its the said individual's eventual loss

of his former private sector self

as it blends into a carefully constructed

public persona

which regularly gets mirrored back to him

via the media and his constituents

generating the image of

'The Elected Man'

in place of the actual man himself

a by product of his own party's press no doubt

many knives he will hold to the throats of his

opponents

as knives to his own throat

are held in the demanding hands of his own

backers

to a corrupt politician the give take ratio

fluxuates in his favor

and he in essence becomes ( no matter how loudly

he denies such allegations) in effect

unwittingly adopted into a sick and disturbed

marriage of his choices and his own vanity

in a neighborhood where everyone openly dines out

on the skeletal remains

they find in the most unlikely of closets.......
