Melody, my song

you have alas decided to come home

why you positively steal from me my very breath

the added years have only become you for such beauty

knows not the ravages of death

a witch's deceiving vision you are

upon any first infatuated glance

your eyes reflect heaven's own promise

your appeal they can only enhance

no man could easily ignore your subtle charms of even

remote charitable choice

the softness of your touch

the breathiness of your practice perfect pitch of voice

kings would fall to their noble knees if you would spare

them even one of your sweet, saucy smiles

they would gladly forgo the heritage of the thrown

just to be the next victim of your willful womanly wiles

forgive me if I do not follow your lady of leisure's

line in the lead

but I all too quickly recognized your obvious assets

available to any pseudo-socialite's greed

but such aspects of the feminine attraction I do not

feel such dreadful dependency nor narcotic need

my heart holds my purest passion

my mind its proud loyal brother

humor their loyal protector of the sword

I am beautiful on the inside happy within

so the outside follows the preceding two in the most

natural absolute accord..........
