ODE TO THE SHAKEN BUT THANKFUL(FOR THE KATRINA VICTIMS)

JOURNAL#30

cavernous coves of fear

haunt the displaced

offsetting and intermingling

memories of all that watery hell

with small fresh flickers of hope

such strain stirs strange recollections

of that phrase long ago once shared

that God destroys all tangibles

just to better build upon his storehouse

of souls

the nay sayers would flagrantly disagree

but the aftermath is paying out from such words

in great gushing waves of strikingly beautiful

humanity

the world has flocked to comfort and clothe

care for and feed her momentarily forgotten

and abused

as the entire country displays to her counterparts

around the globe

just what makes America great

her compassion, her vigor, her all encompassing

will to just help one another

we hold up to reverence the very notion

that we each must take care of our very own

in even nature's destruction God's great blessings

are gloriously abound

so many walked away shaken yet thankful

that their lives were spared to share with others

another day

another month

another year

or even another decade perhaps

and in their beautiful survivor's faces

just look

for staring right back at you

is the love and grace of everybody's own

personal GOD...............\
