never idle long
robust lion
a moment in splendid repose
one stealth sleepy eye
solemnly awakens
to skitter about the
trampled edges of
his grassy bed
no interloper near
only
the mid day sun stands tall
patting further heat from its rays
into his impressive fawn coat
a low breathing statue of
powerful flesh
he yawns
standing to his full magnificent
height and breadth
he lopes off
quiet conquering king
fully conscience of
every walking, flying,
crawling or swimming creature
of the earth
that crosses his
Clever Predator's path......................
