MILESTONE IN THE SAND(the loss of Arafat)

Folder:
JOURNAL#30

it was a savagely tender scene

the clash of malcontent mourners

congesting the streets and alleyways with their

collective grief

weeping and wailing wildly at the loss of their

fierce father dream

with their anguish in the air

and hopes temporarily set aside

the world too awaits

uncertain yet hopeful

for a chance to move beyond

the obstacle that was and was not

in many ways the man himself

Arafat

in some strange cache' of events

it was at times his own polluted

vision that got in the way of the average

Palestinian's desire for true peace and a self

governing state all their own

forcing the masses to silently long for

a future where the phrase "SUICIDE BOMBER"

is nothing more than a brutal reminder

attached to the pre-Palestinian's states

distant past

and Israel is seen no longer as THE ENEMY

but simply a jewish neighbor

the BIBLE says definitively that these times

will make path to come

so even the most fearful human heart

must stand patient and take refuge in the

knowledge that such events will come into

their own light and take powerful root

in the humanity that still weaves itself

through men even men in seats of such

great power

so grieve heartily for your flawed, fallen

leader today dear brother Palestine

for tomorrow just like any other is another

day

and peace though ellusive to you up until now

is ever on its way

so bide your time in the shadows of these

darkest of hours

for the day is alive and it has its purpose

and man will live to see the BIBLE bring

forth its silent truth and have at last

God's promised say.............
