TRAILING RODIN

Folder:
JOURNAL # 37

beautiful
painful
glorious
life
my dear August Rodin
you know the contours
and valleys of its
very existence
you must have
for you sculpted
them all
so lovingly
and with such purpose
you lure those today
even still
though
it's through but a media promise
depicting your genius
in bronze and marble
so proudly put on display
at the latest gallery's discretion
the world owes you her debt
caressed as she is
so many years since
the exit of your daring artisan's grace
from her midst
by the sheer volume and
beauty of your
incredible sensuality
left scattered behind
so unforgettably eye loving
in your magnificent talent's wake.............

Author's Notes/Comments:

inspired by watching a PBS television program about a local museum putting on a huge Rodin sculpture display. Was marvelous to watch and inspired this poem.
