ANCIENT PAIN

Folder:
JOURNAL#31

yes the shackles have come off

and yet the ancient pain emerged

masses held up in a pitiful lurch

unable to escape the devastation

the world held its breath

the news media perched

the racial tensions mounted

even leagues of whites were

insinuating the unfairness

and the worst

in the bloated aftermath

the cameras rolled but the help

lagged

and all the while the red tape

got thicker and more tangled

as the angry dogs of humanity growled

where is the food

where is the ice

where is the water

bring in the busses and the medicine

as the government put on an insincere

simperingly sympathetic face

the audience knew

little truly

those first days

was being done

in those harrowing days to follow

the world valiently tried

to regain its pulse

and throw a lifeline to all

her bretheren

we are only as good as those

who keep us company in our time of need.........
