I suppose in a way
it was a constant lie
that got her through her repeated ordeal
at least until today
she had never before even heard of the
incriminating term
abuse
until she was nearly 29 years old
but the word somehow seemed to fit though
and not just because it made her blood
run cold
its so hard to explain even though there is
no real excuse
what is sometimes too obvious can not always
seem plain
and what hurts one individual
for the other it seems to sickeningly amuse
and not bring on shame
the tired links in the chain are never the less
in each their foul form
and for victims such as Clementine
the best we can do is educate them and steer
them away from any future harm
either to themselves or others just like them
now
the abused abusers......................
