SOME DISTANT DAY

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

my life for the most part
has been
poetry protected
carefully clothed
in the specifically chosen
lavish allure of rhyme's meter
and a moderately toned
speaker's cadence
conversational stanzas
I attempt to employ
so to entice the reader
to ponder and absorb for themselves
images transfused
from their own experiences sought
via ideas I have artfully envisioned
upon the page
truthfully though
at the onset I was partially
the emperor and his new clothes
but with much prolific word fashioning
and a good few decades of life experience
factored in
I parlayed my word infusion with purpose
and a more comprehensive blend of
lessons learned
climatizing you might even say
a much more acceptable even crisper line
of writing
a longer winded Barrett-Browning
I gather I shall not soon be
but to the world over perhaps
'Some Distant Day'
these words shall leave
their innocuously intended imprint
upon the thoughts, lexicon and vernacular
of thinkers, readers and believers alike
yet to even be born
so maybe it is to them
that I owe the abundant flow of my poems.......

Author's Notes/Comments:

I was thinking about reasons why poems come to me and how blessed I feel that they so often do. The human mind though must always ponder the why of things and I suspect that is what I seem to perpetually be doing.
