The Ghosts of Highway 93

The story is sometimes told at Buster's Salloon in Rogerson, which isn't much more than a spot on Highway 93 where the speed limit drops to fourty-five for a couple of miles. One night before Dan and his car were ghosts and snow blew sideways across highway 93 they came upon a semi that had jackknifed and rolled over on its side. Dan pulled over and ran to the cab of the truck and looked inside. He saw a man in real bad shape with blood streaming from the top of his head and down his face. The man looked at Dan and barely uttered the words "my daughter is in the sleeper. Please see if she's okay."

Dan was a small man, so was able to climb through the driver side window and over the driver's big body in order to get to the sleeper and look inside where he found a little girl clutching a stuffed horse and shivering. He couldn't see any signs of injury, so reached for her while assuring her everything was alright. The girl responded and let Dan remove her from the cab. She cried for her daddy. Dan set the girl in his car then returned to the truck. When he looked inside he saw that the man needed to be removed from the cab and have the bleeding from his head stopped. He was also suffering from hypothermia.
