Will You Let Me In?

If I knocked upon your door,

Bearing gifts and something more,

A branch of holly from my bush,

Dropping berries as I rush.

Would you let me in?

If I beckoned from the cold,

Smiled as UP your shade did roll,

Brought you gifts all wrapped up tight,

Loving you with all my might,

Would you let me in?

If I tap upon your heart,

And say, "Let's make a brand new start!

Together we can span the past,

And build a life and love to last."

Will you let me in?

If I look at you and smile,

When you come home that last long mile,

Will you hold me close and whisper then,

"My love for you will never end."

Won't you let me in?

Jessica,
Sadly enough too often people do not let Love enter when it is on there doorstep. Only when it has passed do they realize what they could have had.

Great write.
