Goodbyes

Goodbyes

The bus pulled in with a whispering stop

And the driver stepped through the door.

The tears were streaming when I looked at my friend,

And I couldn't utter one word more.

He crushed me to him in a goodbye hug

That had my throat closing up like a vice.

I said, "I'll write you, and please write back."

He said, "OK, that would be nice."

Two civilized people, we each looked so lost,

But nothing could keep him--he'd leave.

The only thing bad about welcoming friends

Is the parting when you stand there and grieve.

Here I am, as promised....Goodbyes are hard...I am thankful that this was merely a farewell for a short time. Thanks for sharing with me.
