Hypocrite

Am I really what they're saying?

Ill-tempered, sharp-tongued, and mean?

If I am, I surely don't want to be.

Are they really as hurt as they seem?

Sometimes I'm confused, no perspective,

So YOU tell me what I've wondered so long--

Why is it that others can be candid with me,

But when I answer in the same vein, I'M WRONG?

Jessica, We must have mutual acquaintances. :) I've found that the people you describe in this poem don't really want an honest, candid opinion...they've already formed their opinion or belief and just want someone to pat them on the back and validate what they've already decided. I've got a pat response for this situation, "If you don't want me to answer your question, don't bother asking it."
