Modern Samaritan

August 1984

I wounded lay beside the road.

You were too clean to help.

Afraid to get too close to stink,

You only thought of self.

My wounds will heal somehow, someway,

And I'll be whole once more,

But you missed out, cannot regain

The chance to help restore.

What a shame.. when keeping our clothes stain free means more to us than helping someone hurt, that's gotta be a low point when life gets reviewed at the pearly gates~
