The Moment I Loved You

It wasn't what you said to me--

Smooth words like waving grass.

It wasn't in your heated gaze

That warmed like sun through glass.

It happened unexpectedly.

I know when, but not why.

You held me gently in your arms,

And silent, let me cry.

Author's Notes/Comments:

The idea for this poem came from a phonecall one evening when I had really reached the end of my proverbial rope.  A good friend called during a weepy time for me and verbally let me cry on his shoulder.  Very gently he allowed me to regain my balance.  The poem was born that night.

Your explanation changed my original tangent, butI still love the poem.

I think the most touching is the image of silence while you cry! Awesome! ~Tim

That's the true key, isn't it? Too bad more men don't understand. Shut up, listen, and let them cry. Works for me. :)
Good poem, Jessica
