-- The Land Of Make-Believe --

Its the land of make believe.

Just beyond the city lights.

The gates keep them out.

And keep us in.

They long hot days.

The warm short nights.

The land of fake homes,

And perfect lawns.

Fake families.

And fake friends.

This is the land of make believe.

The amusement parks where they toy with our minds.

Suburbia is the new hell.

And we are trapped behind its doors.

-- The Long Nights --

In the parking lots,

You'll find us there these long nights.

Talking through cracked windows.

Trying to keep what heat we have in.

The stage of life.

Where the drama, love, and heartbreak come front stage.

In front the A&P,

Or 7-11,

We are there to scare you away.

Dirty faces,

Different groups.

Yet all trying to find our way,

In the sea of conformity.

The same houses,

Stretch for miles.

The same perfect families,

In every doorway.

Ours are fucked up.

Fathers disappear.

With people half their age.

Leave us with nothing.

But the escape from the land of make believe.

-- Tales from the Home --

The house falls apart.

The perfect world shattered.

Inside scared and tattered.

Outside it still looks perfect.

The broken home.

The broken mind.

Drifting souls.

Across the plain.

Speeding around corners,

And burning up parking lots.

A form of rebellion.

Against the system.

Against your parents.

Against this fucking world.

Trying to find your identity.

In the place where its all lost.

Where its all the same.

Where not the same.

And we're not going to take it anymore.

I can't take this anymore!

-- The True Lights of Night --

For once,

It seems right to run away.

Run from you.

Them.

Me.

Run to the lights.

The city calling me bright.

The lights of night.

Shine in the cloudy sky.

They get brighter as you drive nearer.

Shed away the old identity.

Like a snake getting rid of its old skin.

A new man.

A new person.

In the old city.

The gray city.

The bright lights.

Say goodbye to suburbia,

And hello to long sleepless nights.

In the nights true city lights.
