09. Immature

Folder:
~The Book~

Am I too old for my age?
An old soul, in a young body.
How can they do that to people?
You don’t have to have anything in common,
Can’t talk for more then 5 minutes,
They use you for their needs,
Yet if there good looking,
It is all that matters.

Why can’t they understand,
I like talking more then looking,
It’s the way I am, is that wrong?
Does that break some rule?
Is it wrong to want to be with someone,
One who you get along with, more then just physical attraction.

Is that wrong, can’t they just accept it?
It seems to me, that its not.
They have to be hot, but don’t have to have a brain.
Maybe I’m weird, maybe just a loser, maybe I’m immature.
But I don’t understand,
I like to be serious sometimes,
But no one likes to be serious it seems.

Is it just me?
Am I the only one, who prefers to talk to someone,
Rather then just stare at his cute face.
Is there anyone else?
No one seems to understand,
Will they ever?

I am really enjoying The Book. Everything hits close to home. Your poems are so real and true. As for this one, I understand exactly where you're coming from. I would love someone based on mutual attraction, not appearance. I want someone that understands me with a personality of their own. But if you can get all three then, hey: go for it.
