Goodbye my friend in times of old

fine memories I may uphold

but did not stop what came undone

on the sad, cold morning after.



Feelings I claimed far long forgot

are here to blame for what I sought

an unexpected turn to find

a moment, clean, of peaceful joy.



Of fear, and calm, of excitement

of my emotions turned and bent

and rent to nothing with tender words

"are you alright?", so gentle.



Then later to see your regret

of moments when we almost met

but didn't for the logic's due

and things that were in lacking.



Goodbye my friend of many years

and love that has brought me to tears

I hate to see that this does end

for that which never happened.
