Hindsight

Folder:
closet boxes 2003

You’ll never know what could have been

There’s nothing more to say

It’s you who sits in silence now

It’s me that turns away.

I could have been that something

An answer to your prayers

But hindsight doesn’t help you

I never said that life was fair.

You let vanity guide you

In a search for something more

When along the way you passed me

All that you were looking for.

While others strove to judge you

I just wanted you for you

But you sought for something different

I doubt you ever had a clue.

For once I’ve a clear conscience

I have not reason to feel bad

It’s you that sits in silence

To see what you can never have.
