The Dancer

Pretty and perfect for all to admire

reaching to hights thast i've never aspired

want to be normal but never allowed

done for the day and taking a bow.

I am a dancer that's trapped in a jar

like the worst kind of prisoner i'm jailed and i'm barred

in my red velvet skirt and my gold boustier

I dream and pretend that it's better this way.

Wave to my public and stand on my toes

of the agony suffered, well nobody knows

but one day I will crumble and fall to the floor

the glass bottle case not my prison no more.

Nicole-

Somehow I stumbled across your poem, and I'm glad I did.

"want to be normal but never allowed
done for the day and taking a bow"

i think it's possible for everyone to relate to these lines in one form or another. i love the whole second stanza. good stuff. Well done.

yes
you are crazy

but in some sick way this sounds like how I feel

which is ok coz I'm not crazy
I'm insane
