A few short words slip from your tongue

these words only for me

tell me, did you mean them at all

because you know I am not free.

You knew my heart was being held

by someone that I love and trust

don't you realize we could never be

compare his love to your pure lust.

You treat me only second best

a mere back-up for all your dreams

your feelings there, suddenly gone

please tell me how you think that seems.

What would she say if she did hear

the things that have been said

and it's a blessing that she doesn't

'cause then you would be dead.

But still those words flow from your mouth

and I doubt that they are true

but that's a blessing in a way

because I know I don't love you.
