To the Brick Wall Sitting Beside Me

I wish I could've been there

   When the seas parted

   When you glanced up

       When you let someone in.

I wish I could've been there

   When you had the moment

   When you opened the door

When a name dropped from your lips.

I wish I could've been there

   That I could've witnessed

That I was whom you saw

That the name you spoke was mine.

But I wasn't

    I didn't

       I couldn't be

Which grieves none but me.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this about someone I loved much who couldn't seem to open up to me.
