carnivore carnivale

We are walking through the streets and these cat girls are staring at me up and down. They have fangs I see in my mind piercing through our skin, blood running out.

The smoke in our lungs we breathe out into the night and we laugh. Men in top hats pull off their masks and their skulls show through the skin, their eyes empty.

We are screaming through the streets, the lace of my dress catching on the broken glass I feel like I am walking on with you. My piercings hurt like they might bleed.

Your hand is holding mine, pulling me along. There are people lined up for strange carnivals, they are all laughing. Their costumes are of animals that eat meat.

We are caught up in the crowd; people are ringing bells and carrying marionette skeletons. There are poisonous flowers in their hair, raining petals on the sidewalk.

We stumble out into the street, tripping over each other. The floats are crate paper monsters, men in dragon masks leap off and leer at us, dragon gloves pointing at us.

They claw at the air like I am gasping for breath. Your hands are around my waist, pulling me away from the dragon men. You press glasses overflowing sparks to my lips.

I feel like I am drowning in your eyes and in the champagne that is flowing through me. We don't stop to catch our breath. We just keep running.
