Where I am From

Where I am From

I am from dark and light

Dim and bright

From left and right

From blindness to sight.

I am from silence and noise

From echos to poise

From my soul

I am from great joys

I am from below

In the darkness so

And up above

Where sprinkles glow

I’m from good and bad

happy and sad

From loving laughter

Too raging mad

I am from water and blood

From a great flood

To a spark

Ignited in the mud

I’m from spirit to flesh

Born in the countryside

Growing up running free

Eating chicken, fried

I am from tears of joy

Shared with family & friends

From my imagination

playing pretend

I am from my youth

Speaking truth

Through my experiences

A well known sleuth

I am from my sense

From great dense

On a conscious level

In my defense

I am from this host

A soul residing within

Waiting for the cycle

To repeat again!

Reading this poem again, I

Reading this poem again, I find that---like the best poems that interest me---it loses nothing on second reading but actually gains, because it requires that I bring more (of either life's experience, or life's questions) to it.  That is an effect that, in my own opinion, only the finest poems can produce; and, among them, this poem.  I applaud your accomplishment.

Deep. Beautifully Deep.

Deep. Beautifully Deep. I don't know about anyone else, but I caught it emotionally as well. It may have been a while but you still got it.

Welcome back

The light and dark lives in all of us. And each day is its own struggle to tip ourselves in the right direction. Welcome back to post poems. Look forward to seeing more.

Wow!  Obviously, some time

Wow!  Obviously, some time has past since your most previous post prior to this, so it is good that you are back.  I do not know whether to think of this poem as metaphysical or philosophical---but I do know, for sure, to think of it as MIGHT FINE poetry.  I applaud the way you set up a group of binaries, and then show how your soul emerges from the combinations of them.  I have been reading poetry for almost a half century (yes, I am old!), and I cannot remember ever reading a poem like this one.  It is unique in my experience as a reader; but, in addition to its uniqueness, it is also splendidly great and very, very wise in its approach to existence.  I applaud your accomplishment!!!!!

Thank you so much

Yes it has been some time since my last post... I wrote this poem yesterday as a school assignment. I really just spoke from my soul experiences living in this physical host in this physical realm simply because I feel like we lose touch with our soul living with the demands of society.. The words of support from you and many others after observing my poem has lifted my spirit in ways since writing it! I use to write alot about the physical and thought it would be great to give credit to the spiritual as a balance between the both.. I appreciate you and look forward to writing more in the near future. By the way, old is the new young, sending positive vibes, energy & love your way.. Thank You
