Lament

Look at me like I'm a creature
that you've never seen before
cast a many tendril'd shadow
of some forgotten pagan lore
blot away solar beams
that illuminate the righteous way
cut the breath out from my thoughts
replace the skin with melted clay
stuck to the floor that holds me up
blood of my father fills the cup
drunk to sate misguided eyes
black winged beasts of confusion fly.
shatter glass statues
celebrating empty victories
grab the pieces with barren hands
shove them trough my naked feet
whistle screeches in the distance
train of mirrors rushing quick
twisted smile at the farce
of the decrepit fate you've picked
why, why, why cant I
become the man I'm meant to be
begging to a severed ear
replaced with foreign memories
why, why, why cant you
combine numbered slots in order right
unless the guarded safe is empty
no reason to prolong your fight
could it be the roaring menace
is a lonely cur searching for a home
separate from the pack who loves him
burned by a weighty tome
filled with lines foretelling doom
crimson haze obscures the room
molded tapestry leaves the loom
covering a lonely moon
ghostly petals start to bloom.
stare at me, an apparition
a faintly glowing fear machine
terrorize every beating frame
of my own recurring dream.
