The Light

We live in a world dark and dreary
with a tone strange and eerie
but every darkness has a light
like the night has the moon so gallantly bright
this light shines upon a tree
which from a distance I can see
this tree is rotted with holes galore
and every inch viciously tore
but perched upon this rotted tree
is a bird in every aspect roaming free
this bird swoops down to a vast empty sea
where every hope is locked away without key
but on the water I see a slight reflection
of a mans old and wrinkly complexion
he has a smile on his dull elderly face
he appears to be in a happy place
this elderly man is present self
no longer consumed by greed and wealth
although this world may appear to be dark
the light will forever leave its mark
