Family of mine,

They know of me,

But yet most of the time they are not there for me,

They have missed so many memories of mine,

The day I said my first word,

The day I walked for the first time,

The day I started school,

The day I had my first of many surgeries,

Family of mine,

They know of me,

But yet most of the time they are not there for me,

They have missed so many memories of mine,

The day I graduated from high school,

I had another surgery today,

The day I got my first apartment,

The day I started college,

The day I was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004,

Family of mine,

They know of me,

But yet most of the time they are not there for me,

Why is this I do not know?

Will it ever be different?

Will my family know I am here?

I wish for a phone call just to say hi and how are you,

I wish for cards and letters in the mail,

I got one today,

Why now?

Why not then?

It’s a little sad to me,

Family of mine,

You know of me,

Why are you not here for me?
