Family Game Night

A spin of the wheel,
The roll of the dice,
Cards hiding shifty eyes,
Family Game Night.

Every Wednesday night,
The family of five gather,
Around the kitchen table,
To see who will win this time.

Dad at the head,
Mom by his side,
The kids trailed,
Somewhere behind.

The warmth of the light,
The sound of laughter,
An occasional spit-take,
Such a normal night.

Only one move left,
And she would have it.
“Do you got any 3s?”

Dad looks at his cards,
He looks at her.
A smirk spreads across his face.
“Go Fish.”

Family Game Night,
That of laughter, fun and sore losers,
To which the winner,
Controls the remote.
