I've Seen That Face Before

I've seen that face before.

I've seen it lit by bright blue skies

I've seen it glow beneath the moon

I've seen it glisten in the rain

I've seen its laughter

I've seen its pain.

I've seen that face before.

From where did it come?

From whom did its life begin?

I've seen that face before

I've seen its unseeing eyes

I've seen its mouth without a tune

I've seen its understanding wane

I've seen its laughter

I've seen its pain.

I've seen that face before.

Was it always here?

Was it meant to be?

I've seen that face before.

I've seen the look that life denies

I've seen its fear surmount in June

I've seen it driven half insane

I've seen its laughter

I've seen its pain.

I've seen that face before.

Why is it?

I know that face.

I know its demise

I know it should be soon

I know its life can drain

I know it laughs

I know it's pain.

I know that face

And it's so sad to we can't erase

This awful face of war.
