As One

Beside her he stood,

No Adonis,

Yet strong of body and character

With eyes reflecting

The truth within his soul.

She would not have him follow

Nor he, likewise, her.

So standing thus they endured

The wind and rain,

Slings and arrows,

And ravages of time.

And in the end

All remembered them

As one.
