Your Love Was a Garden

Folder:
Dedications

I placed a vase of sunflowers,
your favorite,
next to your photograph
so I never forget
that your love was a garden.

It was the product
of nuturing and sunshine;
but without the rain,
nothing would have grown.

Your love bloomed

like a spring bouquet,

brimming with hope.

It was a secret escape
found in an embrace
and whispered sentiments.

Though all the petals have fallen,
your love was rooted deep
and the seeds I will carry
in my pockets to remind me.
