I’ve gotten past my bitterness

and all the pain you caused

whether intentional or not.

I said my heartfelt goodbye

and what I was met with

was heartbreaking silence.

I never knew your thoughts;

I never understood your ways,

or made sense of your actions.

But for once I wanted

to give you the last word.

and you responded with apathy.
