Fear of Tomorrow

The future scares me,
the uncertainty of what may be
but mostly the crippling fear
of what may never come to pass.

The thought of a lifetime
without a hand to hold
paralyzes me.

Yet worse to hope for something
that is near unattainable:
the idealistic belief
that someone will love me.

Tomorrow is unknown;
the impossibility of requited love
is a frightening mystery.
