The Fall

I strip myself bare
like leaves
falling off a tree.

Vulnerable,
in the lonely cold.

My insecurities
pile together
at my feet.

My arms branch
towards you,
wanting you to hold me.

Tears fall like snowflakes
when you walk away
and leave me
to pick myself up.
