Beautiful Slave

I don’t know how I got here;
the way to this place was so dark.
I was dragged across the dirt
until my skin is left with these marks.

I was once an innocent girl;
now I’m overcome with this shame.
I’m used to giving them pleasure
and they don’t even know my name.

I’m just a beautiful slave
no longer treated as a human being.
Bound by their probing hands,
there is no one who could free me.

Behind the bars of this sin,
you give me the key for escape.
Though I’ve succumbed to them,
this life will not be my fate.

Rewrite 2012

I don’t know how I got here;
the way to this place was so dark.
I was dragged across the dirt
until my skin is left with these marks.

I was once an innocent girl;
now I’m overcome with this shame.
I’m used to giving them pleasure,
but they don’t even know my name.

I’m just a beautiful slave
no longer treated as a human being.
Bound by their probing hands,
there is no one who could free me.

Behind the bars of this sin,
you give me the key for escape.
Though I’ve succumbed to them,
this life will not be my fate.

I am a daughter of the Most High
and He restores the broken;
I cling to the promise of His love
and the words He has spoken.
