God (Inspired by)

God, I see your

face everywhere.

But it is only

a blurred reflection

as in a polluted pond.

We corrupted Your

beautiful creation

thereby making Your image

less evident in our world.

Merely a ripple remains

of the clarity of Your grace,

the simplicity of Your peace,

Your unbridled joy.

But one glorious day,

purity will be restored,

and we will see

ourselves and others

as You see us.

We will fully know just

as You have fully known us:

we will display your love,

your hope, your faith

as You have shown us.

Rewrite 2012

God, I see your
face everywhere.

But it is only
a blurred reflection
as in a polluted pond.

We corrupted
Your beautiful creation
thereby making Your image
less evident in our world.

Merely a ripple remains
of the clarity of Your grace,
the simplicity of Your peace,
Your unbridled joy.

But one glorious day,
purity will be restored,
and we will see
ourselves and others
as You see us.

We will fully know just
as You have fully known us:
we will display your love,
your hope, and your faith
as You have shown us.

Inspired by: I Corinthians 13 specifically “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
