Your Flower

God (Inspired by)

Love’s vapor falls on my heart

like dew at spring’s first bloom.

You’ve known me from the start

since before I was in the womb.

You watched me when I matured

in this love that forever renews.

And because I kept my heart pure,

oh how this delicate flower grew!

I soaked in your warming essence,

drinking in the nectar of passion.

Basking in the glow of your presence,

I developed in awe-worthy fashion.

When autumn came and leaves fell,

my devotion to you remained in place.

I was steady while the wind swelled,

fixed to the branch of constant grace.

The world’s woods were left bare;

their seasonal happiness had faded.

No forged foliage for them to wear;

in their nakedness, they became jaded.

If only they had accepted the seed

you sow in all of our empty souls.

They wouldn’t have turned to weeds;

they would have been remade whole.
