Silence Hides My Wounds, But Never My Scars

I can keep

the hurt hidden

for so long before

it bleeds through my skin.

The scarring on my heart

is not visible except

for the evidence

of how untrusting I am.

I wear my emotions

on my sleeve

to show them that I will

never open up again.

I will not subject

myself to the pain

of becoming battered

and bruised.
