Defusing Bombs

Sometimes I feel like

I spend every day

defusing bombs.

I feel like it is my job

to determine

which wire to cut.

But I don't always know,

so I close my eyes,

and pick one,

hoping the bomb won't explode.

But sometimes it does

and that failure

falls on my shoulders.

I never received training on this;

my knowledge is self-researched.

I don't have any protection

from the shrapnel

that follows when I

make a mistake.
