Child

Everyone, quiet,

Can you hear it?

That little voice in the back of your head

That tells you 'It'd be fun to jump on the bed'

That tiny voice

That gives you the choice

To either finish this long report

Or go climb into a pillow and blanket fort

I'm guessing you'd pick 'logical' way,

Thinking 'I'm an adult, and that's child's play'

True, but do me a favor, look into your heart,

Aren't you a child in there, at least in part?

I bet you are,

I hope you are,

Because how can you get through the day-to-day?

Without the thought that later you can play?

I know the only way I gat through life

Get past all the sorrow and strife

Is to go hang out with my friends at the shore

And laugh with them, like so many times before,

So go out swinging,

And start laughing,

Grin 'till your face hurts,

Next thing you know

Work won't seem so problematic anymore
