Eliminate 'Normal'

First day of school

The time to see how everyone has changed

His voice cracked!

Her hair is blond!

She gained weight!

He's taller!

They started dating?

Look at her clothes!

It makes me wonder

What's said about me?

Have I changed

Or am I the same

Everyone always judges others

But have you judged yourself

I'm positive you haven't

'Cause if you had

You would realize what everyone says

Behind your back

And you would feel hurt

Possibly angry at yourself

But would you stop talking

Gossiping behind their back

Would you only speak of the good things

And to their face?

Would you stop your friends

From gossiping and judging

Or would you let them

Would you smile and nod

And pretend you agree

If you do, then I suggest

Listen to them

Behind your back

And watch as you hear

Everything they hate about you

Come out into the open

And note everything they noted

Add it to your self image

I bet you, after that

You will look in a mirror

And see what they see

And be surprised

Something you like, they hate

Something you adore, they scorn

And you will change, who you are

To fit their view

For those who don't,

Congratulations!

You don't fit the form

You will see what they see

And not care

You will believe

That you are, who you are

And you don't have to change it

To fit in

If enough people

In enough places

Stand out and proud

And show how they differ

Maybe we could eliminate 'normal'
