Moon Is A Gentle Mother

The moon smiles down at us

At those who dance in her gentle light

She shines without overpowering

The diamond stars around

Some nights she wears a cloak of cloud

Some nights she's bright and proud

Some nights she hides the scars that show

How she protects us

Others she shouts in our faces

How we should thank her

But still when all the stars are out

Telling of the time

She silently lulls us to sleep

Like a gentle mother

Then she dips beyond the horizon

And the sun takes over

Being the gentle mother

Of the Earth we call home
