After knowledge and praise, come envy and hate.

Osiris the Owl was the wisest animal in all of the land. His knowledge included, science, animal interactions, the different tongues in the world, spirituality, nature, and much, much more. Fish swam across oceans, birds flew over mountains, and animals ran across continents in order to seek his wisdom. Osiris was more than happy to help those who asked, whether they were his friends or not. The world was a happy place, which made the problems presented to Osiris the Owl be minor and menial.

One fateful morning, David the Deer, noble leader of the animals in the land, came to Osiris with a concern that made his heart heavy. David told Osiris that the animals were becoming more and more reckless as the days went by. They had begun to neglect the advice that the feathery friend had been giving them. Therefore, their problems were becoming more and more menacing for the harmony of the world. The delicate balance of The Circle of Life was being shattered as the animals became more careless, impulsive, and irresponsible. Osiris the Owl was devastated; the animals had broken his trust.

It was at that moment, that Osiris’ heart of flesh was replaced with a heart of stone.

“It is not my problem,” he exclaimed while pushing David the Deer out of his den, “if they have decided to turn away from my careful counsel. If they don’t want my wise advice, they won’t have it! Never again!”

David had never seen Osiris act in such a way; it had left him perplexed. He had no choice but to leave Osiris the Owl alone, just as he wished. That loneliness would later prove to be the beginning of the demise of Osiris. David went back to the animals and tried to solve their problems himself, but failed miserably. The world was slowly spiraling into chaos, not matter how much David the Deer tried to help. If only he had Osiris’ knowledge, he would be able to solve everything, he thought. Nothing, however, made Osiris come out of his den to help.

The bird had grown stiff of spirit, only coming out at night to rejoice in the destruction that occurred in his absence. He flew over the chaos below, knowing that nothing like that could ever happen to him because he knew how to prevent it. He thought that he had had no part in all of the ruin. But, oh, how wrong he was. The knowledge and wisdom necessary to prevent or to fix everything was in his claws, but he chose to keep it to himself. Envy of knowledge was what made the previously perfect structure of the Animal Kingdom cause the end of the world.

MORAL:

Knowledge is security, knowledge is power. We must however, not be greedy with said power, because anyone who knows how to do good but does not do it is as guilty as someone who actively does wrong. Being envious blinds you from the greater good.
