Forgive Myself

Can’t bear to face my own reflection,

Who had I become?

All is forgiven and forgotten,

But I can not forgive myself.

The person you knew back then,

isn’t who I am today.

You only saw a distorted version of me.

One I look back at with disgust.

My face falls as my thoughts wander –

If only I could forget like you have.

I’m filled with endless shame,

Because you never got to know me.

All the poetry can’t explain how I feel.

I can never forgive myself.

You should have known me now

And not when my life was too unstable!
